I just want
to have a little chat today and fill you in with what has been going on lately! I haven't blogged for a while now, the reason behind that is I have been so busy with college and applying to university's, and I just needed to take time out to have a good think about my future! Recently I have been having to make a lot of decisions, I am now coming to the
end of my last year at college studying photography and I now need to decide
whether I want to go to university to study photography or to go out and get a
photography related job.
I have been
going round and round in circles and can seem to stick with one plan, I really
don't feel like university would be the right place for me, I just don't learn
from sitting and talking about photography I prefer to be more hands on. It has
always been my dream to work on cruises to do photography, I love the idea of
travelling and working at the same time! But nearly everyone I have spoken to
have told me to go to university, all my tutors are all for university and it
just feels like if I don't go I won't get as far (Has anyone else ever been in
this situation) I don't want to go to uni and waste 3 years of my life when I
could be out doing something that I love and get to see the world doing it.
It really
has been on my mind all the time, which is why I haven't been posting as much
as normal as I have been trying to have a think about what I want to do with my
life, has anyone got any experience with university or going straight into a
job that might be able to give me a few tips? I had my university interview a
few weeks back and have since been offered a place.
Leave me a
comment below if you went to university or got a job and let me know what you
think, or if you have any tips!
I went to University and loved it - why not see if you can go part time? That way you can still work and have your freedom.

I actually went to university to study photography for 4 years. I had a mixed experience but I am glad I went because of the creative group I got to be a part of. The people around me inspired me to want to be better. The photography classes were disappointing though. From that perspective I agree with you that experience teaches you more than sitting around talking about photography.
ReplyDeleteThat's really interesting that you went to university to study photography, I have been doing photography for 5 years now, I did it at school and college and we don't really have any practical lessons which has put me off slightly!
