What inspires me to travel

Travelling is a huge part of my life and something I am extremely grateful for. I have experienced so many amazing things over the last nearly 4 years of travelling with my job and before that with my family and its something I reflect on all the time.

There is so much to see and do, whether it be 2 hours away from where I live or thousands of miles away in a different country, it is a big wide world out there and one that is just waiting to be explored.

Different cultures, tastes, smells, sights, sounds are all there to be discovered and enjoyed, the stories and tales you hear from people whilst your travelling but also at the same time getting the insight to see it yourself is truly one of life's greatest pleasures.

I've grown up with this huge fascination around travelling and having as many experiences as I possibly can whilst I can, for me I would much rather have these experiences than buy myself the lastest phone thats come out or the newest beauty product - because those are the things I will remember not the hundreds of pounds spent on items or clothing.

The excitement and thrill I get from travelling is what inspires me, the little smile that I feel creep onto my face every time I'm somewhere new, meeting new people and getting grow my knowledge from the people around me.

Even as I type this now I can feel myself flickering between all the places I have already been but the places I cannot wait to one day discover, the little hidden gem's that you find out there. Sometimes it can be a spur of the moment decision to take a different turn or a carefully planned out trip that you have waited months, sometimes years for.

For me travelling is my passion, I love the pure enjoyment and excitement that I get from it, I am like a kid on Christmas day and even if I have been somewhere multiple times before there is always something new to do, somewhere new to explore.

What inspires you to travel? Do you have a bucket list of the places you would like to visit? Let me know in the comments below!

The Blogger Tag

So I recently saw a post from Jo over at Caledonian Kitty. Jo is one of my favourite bloggers so you should definitely head over to her blog and have a look if you haven't already. The post was the bloggers tag and so I thought I would give it a go!

Nothing really springs to mind.... I have lots of weird habits and tricks but nothing I would say that was a talent!

Question 3: What is your biggest blog related pet peeve?
I would probably say when you have an idea but just have no clue how to or where to start! I often get some really good ideas when I'm on a train or when I'm out and about and then when it gets to writing the post I don't know how to start it, eventually I get there but sometimes I have to leave it a while and then come back to it.

Question 4: What is your biggest non blog related pet peeve?
People being late! I think this has always been one of my biggest pet peeves, I can understand a few minutes but when its noticeable it gets to me! Other than that I would say rudeness...... manners and small gestures go a very long way!

Question 5: What is your favourite song?
My answer is actually the same as Jo's (make sure you go check and see what her other answers were!) and say Bohemian Rhapsody..... it has always been my all time favourite and the one I will always sing at Karaoke, who doesn't want to hear me sing for nearly 5 minutes?

Question 6: What is your favourite social media site?
Instagram! I am a very visual person and so love seeing what everybody gets up to.

Question 7: What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are alone?
Watching films, snuggling up with a hot chocolate and doing something productive.

Question 8: What's your favourite junk food?
Chinese takeaway.... get me duck pancakes any day of the week!

Question 9: Do you have any pets, if so what kind and what are their names?
I have a rabbit and his name is toffee, I've had him for as long as I can remember and is just so fluffy!

Question 10: What are your favourite fiction and non fiction?
Any fiction by Cecelia Ahern, she is my favourite author and I think I have read all her books! Another book I love is A vintage affair. Non Fiction anything crime based.

Question 11: What is your favourite beauty product or tool?
I absolutely love my Estee lauder night repair and my Real Techniques beauty sponge.

Question 12: When were you last embarrassed and what happened?
I don't really know! I don't get that embarrassed easily.

This is a tough one. I would probably say Jasmine tea!

Question 14: What's your favourite movie
I am a huge movie lover, I have so many favourites but I do love we're the millers.

Question 15: What was your favourite lesson in school and why?
I loved Geography as I love to travel and so getting to study all the different possibilities was amazing.

Question 16: If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I would say Norway! I love the tranquility and the absolutely stunning scenery.

Question 17: PC Or Mac?
Mac all the way, I don't remember the last time I used a PC apart from at work!

Question 18: Last romantic gesture from your other half/ close friend?
So me and my boyfriend normally do little gestures on a daily basis such as going out for surprise meals, cinema, bowling but recently Harry got a huge bunch of Red Roses delivered to me which was absolutely adorable and completely unexpected.

Question 19: Favourite Celebrity?
I would have to say Dennis Waterman

Question 20: What blogger do you secretly want to be friends with?
There are so many lovely bloggers out there and new ones cropping up all the time, I would love to make some friends through blogging!

My grandad. But also anyone who is doing something they love and have worked hard to get!

Question 22: What is your favourite blog to read?
I love Jo's blog, she has been one of my favourites to read pretty much since I started blogging! I am also really enjoying finding more blogs so make sure to leave yours in the comments!

Question 23: What is your favourite high street shop?
Makeup wise would be Superdrug otherwise I bloody love H&M, its my go to shop at the moment.

Question 24: Are you in education or do you work?
I now work, I don't think I would go back to education unless it was something I really really wanted to do, for now I am really enjoying getting real life experiences in the work place.

Question 25: One thing you are proud of?
How far I have come in the last few years, I used to be terrified of speaking to people in public now as part of my job I am making presentations to hundreds of people but also just in life everything I have learnt so far and will continue to learn!

What I pack in my overnight bag

With my job being travel related I am often having to go away for a few nights. I used to be terrible at packing light and instead I would pack ridiculous amounts "Just in case" the 3 dreaded words everyone has said at some point! Well over the last year or so I have learnt how to pack light and only pack essentials I thought today I would share with you what I pack for a night away!

So this can vary depending what the occasion is that I'm away for and also the length of time I'm going to be away but I will normally pack 1 pair of black Jeans, 1 Jumper, 1 top and 1 going out top that I can pop on if we are going out somewhere a bit fancier. I'll also pack 1 set of Pj's and will normally opt for shorts and a T-shirt as it saves space, knickers and underwear I normally over pack by a few pairs just in case of emergency situations! Shoes again completely vary but will normally wear my trainers whilst travelling and then have a pair of small ballet shoes as they are compact to pack but also can be dressed up or down.

This is where I pack the essentials such as toothpaste, toothbrush. I'll also before I travel either buy or hunt out my travel bottle sets and then place a small amount of shampoo, conditioner and body wash to keep me going for a few days. I know a lot of hotels have their own minis that they put in the room but I would much rather use my own as sometimes hotel ones can make my hair feel quite dry.

Makeup and Skincare

Of course one of the first things to pack is my makeup bag filled with all the makeup that I use of a daily basis, I will also take my makeup remover, serum and moisturiser so that my skincare doesn't lack just because I'm away.

Other bits and bobs

The main bits that I pack are my hairdryer, straighteners and phone charger. I've tried hard to keep all my other bits to a minimum and not over pack or pack things that I don't need as it just takes up too much space!

So thats the main bits that I will pack in my overnight

My Favourite Perfumes

So I’m very particular about scents, there are only 3 perfumes that I have found over the years that I really like and will wear on a daily basis and I thought that I would share them with you and maybe give you some inspiration.

So my first one is Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream, this is the very first perfume I ever wore! I got this for my 18th birthday whilst I was on holiday and I’ve carried on using it till this day. Admittedly I don’t use this one as much as I used to as the following perfumes have become my absolute must haves! The daisy perfume is a very light and floral scent and is perfect for day time wear, I wouldn’t reach for this one of an evening but would work perfectly for day time especially in the summer. Another thing I have always loved about Marc Jacobs perfumes is the bottle design, they are adorable and look so cute on my vanity table.

The next perfume is the Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, I remember the very first time I smelt this and it was as a little taster with a beauty purchase and as soon as I tried it I knew I had to get a big bottle! It’s quite a pricy perfume but I love it!! It’s a very sweet scent and I would say is perfect for both day and night use. I don’t reach for this as much for a night time any more but it is still my go day time perfume.

Last but not least is my favourite out of the three, Dior poison girl. I was looking for a perfume to change around with the viktor and rolf perfume but I couldn’t find one that I loved. I brought this one as it was slightly cheaper at the time but I still wasn’t sure about it it’s a much more grown up scent than I was used to wearing and very much a strong scent but after a while I started to love it! I have got so many compliments whilst wearing this perfume and it’s now the one I reach for first, I am so impressed by the longevity I can still smell this on me after a good few hours whereas the others I would need to reapply throughout the day.

So there we have it my top 3 perfumes, have you tried any of these before? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
